This year’s Global Swede is awarded to excellent master’s student in International and Comparative Education at Stockholm University, Elise Lammers, who was among the 20 students from 17 countries to received the prestigious award at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Special Issue of the Nordic Journal of Vocational Education and Training (NJVET)

NJVET published recently (late December) a special issue on cultural historical theory with Lázaro Moreno Herrera, professor, as Guest editor. NJVET is an open access research journal currently the best ranked journal in research in vocational education and training in the Nordic countries. The contributors in the special issue are researchers from Finland, Switzerland, Germany and Australia, Lázaro and Marianne Teräs from IPD contributed each with an article.

A Visit by the Cambodian Ministry of Education

On May 26th we had a delegation from Cambodia visiting the Department to learn about the Swedish Education system and teacher education, more specifically. As part of the delegation, we also had officials from the Swedish School Inspectorate (Skolinspektionen) and from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

Julia Gillard's Presentation on the Global Partnership for Education

Julia Gillard, Chairwoman of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and the former Prime Minister of Australia, visited the Department of Education on May 19th, 2016 and gave a presentation on GPE's work in supporting developing countries to ensure that every child receives a quality basic education, prioritizing the poorest, most vulnerable and those living in fragile and conflict-affected countries.
