Maggie O'Neill wins the NOCIES’s Outstanding Thesis Award!

Maggie O’Neill was awarded the NOCIES’s Outstanding Thesis Award at the NOCIES and GlobalCIE Forum Conference held at Stockholm University. Her thesis is titled: Problematizing the Peace Discourse in World’s Largest Lesson: A Critical Exploration of Knowledge Production through Discussions of Violence.

In her acceptance speech, she states:

“In my thesis I argue that the peace discourses created in World’s Largest Lesson creates a concept of peace that is dehistoricized, depoliticized and decontextualized. It creates a version of peace that privileges individuals and maintains the status quo.”

Larry Suter, Mark Bray, Meeri Hellsten, Heidi Biseth, David Turner

The Future of International and Comparative Education Research

Mark Bray and Larry Suter gave the keynotes at the NOCIES 2019 biannual conference and GlobalCIE Forum, held at Stockholm University, October 11th-12th, 2019. They discussed the Future of International and Comparative Education Research, stressing the importance of collaboration between methodological perspectives and the benefits of mixed-methods research.
